Happy Dyngus Day!

What the heck is that? Well, Dyngus Day or Wet Easter Monday, falls on Monday after Easter Sunday. Historically a Polish tradition, it is meant to blow off a little bit of steam after the restrictions imposed by Lent have ended.

In Cleveland Ohio, Dyngus Day is being celebrated annually since 2008. The upcoming ninth annual Dyngus Day will be held on April 2. The festivities usually include polka, party, eating pierogi and drinking pivo. Pivo means, you guessed it, beer. And of course, a Miss Dyngus Pageant. This year it will be topped by the first ever Dyngus Day wedding.  The couple first met and dated in 1981, then lost track with one another and were reunited through Facebook a few years ago.
